Eleanor & Park

The book I recently read was Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell. This book is about a 16 years old girl, and a 16 year old boy. The girl, Eleanor, is a little different from others, she's very unique and independent. She's always been bullied or laughed at for how she dresses, or even for her big red curly hair. Many students would refer to her as "Big Red". She also has many family problems going at home. Her mother remarried and now Eleanor had a stepfather. He's very controlling and never Eleanor and her 5 other siblings have any freddom or anything else they want. The reason Eleanor dresses so different in because her stepfather never lets her buy new clothes. So she had to create unique clothing combinations to make it wearable. On the other hand, Park, is half Korean and half white, he's cool with all the popular kids, and his home is always filled with love, and no fighting.
It's Eleanor's first day of school, and she gets on the bus having no where to sit. So park rudely offers her a seat. Pak usually reads comic books on the way to school everyday. When he notices Eleanor is reading along, he slows down and makes sure she's done reading the page. The next day Park brings Eleanor some more comic books to read, later on the start to talk about music. A quarter into the book, Eleanor and park begin to hold hands on the bus. The rest of the book is just about their love story.
Every time I read this book, I never wanted to put it down, it always left me for wanting to read more. I would never get distracted by anything else since I was lost in the book. There was so much detail and it was so easy to actually visualize what was happening. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes romance novels, and books that make you never want to put them down. Comparing this book to all the other ones I've read, this is by far my favorite.

Immigrants

Most immigrants come to America to get a better life, but most of the time they are just getting an ever worse one. They try to do to everything possible to get financial help and get a better education for their children. But many racist people are making it even harder for immigrants to live their life.
In my opinion, immigrants should get help. Yes, they do take up jobs and many other resources for American citizens. However all they ever wanted was a better life, not racist comments by others who think they are wrong just because their race. But if we work together, we can organize certain organizations for immigrants so they can get the help they need to live a better life.

Women Equality

Many people may not see it, but women are not treated equally to men. Men have always been seen as stronger, more powerful, and smarter. Women  have always been seen as just weak. The real question is, why does gender matter?
One example is the amount of money a man makes while working. For every dollar a man makes, a women only makes 90 cents, that's 10 cents less. According to Pew Research Center, "From ages 25-34 women made 90 cents for every dollar a man would make" but they also say that "90 cents for every dollar is an increase from 1980" in 1980 a women made 67 cents for every dollar a man made, in 2015 a women made 90 cents for every dollar a man made. So that explains that it had increased ever since then. Who knows, maybe now it can be the same. If we work together we can end women oppression.

Speaking Up

Have you ever wanted to speak up for something you believe in? Or have you ever actually stood up when you seen something wrong? You should always speak up and say something whenever you see something that you know is wrong.
By you saying something, you can possibly make a change or even impact on a lot of others. I personally speak up whenever I see something wrong, or I say something about topics I'm passionate about. By speaking your mind towards something you're extremely passionate about can possibly lead you to being a person who changes the world.
As I grow older, I want to change others perspectives on the world. By informing them about real world situations, so we can come together to find a solution.

Racism

Racism has always been around, it may even never end. No matter what people do, how hard they try, there will never be a solution to racism. In my opinion, it's honestly just so stupid. Anyone with a different skin color is still a person, still a human that functions the same exact way as everyone else, so why judge someone just by their skin color?
Who normalized it for white people to take over America? Who said that was okay? America started off with indigenous people, not whites. White people came in and took over just because they thought anyone who wasn't white was wrong.
So now our President thinks it's okay to judge others just by their skin color or race. It's definitely not okay to judge anyone no matter what race, gender, religion, age, sexuality, etc. I believe that each and every person should be treated equally to everyone else no matter what.

The Storm

"The heavens sense our burden:
The threat of future downpours
I carry on my back
We are drunk on wine vinegar.
The nearing storm rouses me,
It makes me want to shake the world

We are an assembly of misery.
If our hands are bloody
It is from the blood of our own wounds.
The grotesque scars
We bear on our bodies
Testify to battles fought
That went unrecognized

But then next storm will unfurl our flag
And uproot the rotted trees!
Then we together with the gusting wind,
Will scale spilberks heights,
And stand in victory on the peaks of the cliffs,
Our hair blowing freely in the wind"

Life is Beautiful

In the movie Life Is Beautiful, there are many similarities to our readings. For example, they showed how the prisoners were put to work, how older women and younger children were killed in the gas chambers, as well as older men. In our readings it explained how anyone that was Jewish, was put into a camp to either die, or to work. In the movie, It showed how each and every prisoner was put to work, while the Nazis watched them suffer.
The moods of the film stayed kind of the same. In the beginning, everyone was very happy and excited about life. They lived in a town where everyone seemed happy, and no one was ever sad. As things started changing over the years, People's moods started to be come negative. The only person who stayed positive was Guido Orefice. He stayed positive for his son who was still a small child. He didn't understand all of the things going on around him, like the internment camps and all of the guards. So Guido told his son it was a game, whoever got to 1,000 points first wins a tank. Comparing this to everything we learned before Is very different. Moods of the poems we read were always sad and depressing. But The movie is always happy but sad only at certain times. There is always humor throughout the whole movie. This is because Guido is trying to be strong and keep things fun for his son who is still a young boy.
The film shows life is beautiful by always having good times out of the bad. Guido tried to keep his son happy and not frightened by the bad things going on around them. They even gave little hints to the mother to show that they were safe and still alive. At the end of the film, I think it was the part where it really showed life is beautiful. The young boy reunited with his mother after they survived all they went through. They were all happy and worried about nothing else but each other. Another example is when Guido would always come back to the cabin and explained how the points worked to his son. He made sure his son was following the "rules" and was never scared that something bad would happen. So throughout the whole film, it really explains how you should always have good times out of the bad and try to always stay positive.

Fake it until you become it

One thing I need to get better at is paying attention.  I dislike school as well as many others do.  But I always try my best to pay attention and to get my grades better.  I can start off by asking my teachers for help with things I'm confused on, and trying my best to keep up with homework. I'm Already getting better at this, if I were to compare myself from the beginning of the year till now, there's a big difference. Overtime I know I'll get even more better, and my grades will be way better too.

Propaganda Poster

This propaganda picture showed that Hitler's made it mandatory for all youth to follow him. He wanted all children to think he was the best, even if they didn't know what was going on. A 10 year old doesn't even pay attention to politics and would rather play outside or do other things besides following a person who think he can do what her he wants. The picture says "Youth Serves the Füher.  All 10-year-olds into the Hitler Youth" The picture was intended for the youth and their parents. To show that all young children should follow Hitler. This poster is trying to get all Hitler parents who support him to get their children into supporting him too. Since the children are so young, they can grow up and teach heir children about how great Hitler was as well.

Famous Person I would like to meet

If I could meet any famous person, dead or alive, I'd want to meet Anne Frank. Everyone always asks me if I related to her, because of our last names. If I could meet her, I'd ask her what experiences she had during the war. I'd also ask her how she learned to write out her feelings the way she did. I would just sit and talk to her about all kinds of things, from the war, all the way to her family tree. The most important part of meeting her would be, to compare pictures of our family to see if they look alike, and asking questions about what she knows about them. It would be so interesting to meet her, but I'd probably have so many other questions to ask her, but I just don't know them yet.

Best Advice

The best advice I have ever gotten was from my mom, she told me to always listen to her when she says one of my friends weren't really my friends.  Somehow she can already tell when someone is being fake and only "pretending" to be my friend. She refers to her experiences when she was our age. She always does the same thing with my sister, and she always ends up being right. This is why from now on I will always listen to my mother when she senses a fake friend.

Girl Stolen

Girl Stolen is written by April Henry and is about a girl named Cheyenne Wilder. She is 16 years old with pneumonia and she's blind. Back when she was 13 her and her mother were waking along an empty road, when 2 racing cars came and lost control running right into Cheyenne and her mother. Her mother flew far away from the scene since the impact was so harsh. Cheyenne bumped into a street sign and hit the back of her head, which caused her Brain to bounce off the back of her skull and caused her vision to go blurry.
The beginning of the story explains how Cheyenne and her stepmother went to the pharmacy to pick up some antibiotics for her pneumonia. Cheyenne stayed in the car while her step mother went inside the store. Before her step mother left the car, Cheyenne begged her to leave the keys in the ignition. So her step mom did, in case Cheyenne got cold, she could put the heat on. A few minutes later someone came into the car, but Cheyenne used her other senses and figured out that that person that came into the car was far too loud. "Even the way the door closed hadn't sounded right. Too fast and too hard for Danielle. The breathing was all wrong too, speeded up and harsh", this is a quote from chapter one, paragraph four. It explains how all the little things Cheyenne could tell that it wasn't her step mother. Sooner or later the man in the car drove off, not knowing Cheyenne was in the back seat.
Later on, the boys name was introduced, Griffin. Griffin took Cheyenne to his father and brothers to see what they should do. They found out Cheyenne's father was the president of Nike. They wanted a ransom in order for Cheyenne's father to get her back. But Cheyenne's fat her couldn't  give them the price they wanted in the little time he had. Cheyenne tried to escape many times, but failed each time.
I personally love this book, I love the action and the story behind Cheyenne. Even griffin has a story about his mother. I recommend this book to anyone who likes a little bit of romance, action, and stories that make you never want to put the book down.

My biggest regret

One of my  biggest regrets is getting suspended in sixth grade.  The mistakes I made that day were  very immature and I will forever regret what I did.  That day I could've done so many things different. The only good outcome out of this suspension is that I've learned not to make the same mistakes again, not to do what I did again, and I learned my lesson.  If I could go back to this day I would have never did what I did I will should've kept my anger in and never wrote or said what I said. If you're wondering why I got suspended, which you probably are,  I wrote a "threat" to another student.  I put ""threat"" in quotation marks because to me it wasn't a threat, to teachers it was. From what I recall, it was letting out my anger on a piece of paper.  Little did I know a teacher would find that same paper, and I would get suspended.  So this is suspension is one of my biggest regrets because it will be in my files for every school I attend and I will always have that day burned into my mind.

-happiness is...Christmas, I love spending time with my family and getting and giving gifts to see them all smile.

-happiness is...seeing my mom smile, I love seeing my mom happy, since all she does for me and my older sister, she takes both parts of parenting, father and mother.

Inspirational Super Bowl commercial

I think that the Airbnb super bowl commercial was the most inspirational. It said that everybody belongs, no matter what race, gender, what we look like or who we are. They say that "the world is more beautiful, the more you accept." This explains a lot since people now a days judge, and assume, and put people into categories. For example, if someone sees a Muslim, they automatically assume they are a terrorist or part of something suspicious. Or if a white person sees a mexican that only speaks Spanish, they assume they are an immigrant. Many people judge and many people assume things, but this commercial explains a lot in a few sentences. This is why I picked this specific commercial since we all belong no matter who we are, where we're from, what we look like, what our religion is, transgender or not, no matter what we along belong.

Worst argument

I can't really just pick one really bad argument I have gotten in. There are just too many since I get into arguments on a daily basis. But most of them are for little things that make no sense to have an argument for. I always get into arguments with my best friend but those are for no reason at all. I even get into arguments with my sister but that's just what sisters do. But in an argument I think that they all start from miscommunication. Some people don't understand what the other is complaining about and it just starts a really big argument for no reason at all. But in an argument always hear what the other has to say and then make a comment off of that. Try to never let the argument blow out of proportion. Even talk it out with them and try to stay clam.  So these are just a few tips to handle and argument.

Anne Frank in the world

Anne Frank in the world is about Anne and her family. In the book it explains how the war started, what happened in between, and how the war ended. The Nazis and the KKK were explained a little more, what the purpose for thsoe clubs were explained and why they were created.  The book doesn't have chapters, instead each page has a title, a few pictures, and a small paragraph to explain each topic. It explains how the nazis are anti-Christian, how the nazis killed anybody with a disability or whoever was an alcoholic, this was because they thought that the nation shouldn't spend money on anybody with  a disability either mentally, or physically. Then about education only Jews can go to school with Jews and non-Jews can only go to school with non-Jews. Even teachers were split up by race. If you were a Jew, you lost your job, non-Jews got to keep their jobs and live on with their lives. Later on Anne is shown in pictures from every school picture. It shows how she aged and grew up. They also show her sister Margot, how she aged and grew up as well.
If I could change up a few things in the book I would make it more about Anne Frank and her family then about the Nazi's and how the system went and how the war started. It was a little confusing to me because the whole book explained the war and not the family, since the book is called Anne Frank in the world. But on the other hand the book explained everything very well and detailed. It explained perfectly how the war started and what the reasons why, and how the war ended and the reasons why. I really liked how they had pictures that go with each text but some pages were all pictures and very little text to explain everything. But overall I really, liked this book since it explained everything very well and detailed.

One thing I did kind over winter break...

Recently over break, my best friends father passed away in tragic accident. He passed by gun shots to his stomach by 2 police officers on Tuesday December 27. Unfortunately he passed and did not make it.
I was with my best friend for basically the whole break to be there to help her and her mom clean out their house of his belongings and to be there for my best friend. I helped pack his clothes, shoes, and other belongings so they won't have the memory of his loss.
But most importantly I was there for my best friend by asking if she was okay, being right beside her through everything, my family offered her and her mom to stay at my house for a few days. I was there to make her laugh and have good times out of the bad times.
Everytime we saw the incident on the news about her dad I would make her laugh and try to get her mind off of the fact that people thought her dad was a bad Person and that to remember the person he really was, not what people say or think of him by the first and last impression they had of him. So that is one kind thing I did over winter break.

My Goal for 2017

My goal for 2017 is to work on my attitude. Over the last few years my attitude got worse. I have told people I hated them and I would always start drama.
In 7th grade I told everyone that if they were already taking about me, I was already talking about them. I started so much drama at my church in the youth group that I had to recently leave to take a break.
So now I have returned to Church and I haven't started any drama. I started off last year hating everyone and starting drama 24/7. But now as I get older I understand that its not good to have a bad attitude and being rude all the time.
If you're like that, no body would want to be your friend. So now I have started to change. this year I really want to find out who I am and stop staring drama, work on my attitude and worry about myself for once. So that's just a few things I want to work on this year.

Trump or Clinton?

I think that this election was one of the most competitive. Trump and Clinton both had very good ideas, but I would disagree with trump about his thoughts and his actions. Many times he made fun of disabled people, kicked a women and her baby out of a rally, and was almosted killed at one of his rallies.
I think Clinton had better thoughts, she never kicked anyone out, she actually talked to her voters and listened to what they had to say, she wasn't racist at all. But the only thing everyone disliked about her was that she said you can rip a baby out of the womb the day of the due date. So at exactly 9 months. Many thought this was not okay or disagreed with her thoughts.
So I think many people voted for trump only for that reason about the abortion. I personally think it is the women's choice, its her body she should decide. Not have an child because she is forced to, have a child if she wants to. Even though many others think abortion is wrong, it's not their choice. It's the womens right to choose if she wants to mess up her body and have a child she actually wants. Not mess up her body for a child she doesn't even want. If there was no abortions there would be millions of chrildren born and the adoption centers would be filled with unwanted children.
So yes I did disagree with Donald trumps thoughts about abortion. So this years election by far was the most competitive and both candidates had great reasons and thoughts.
